Requirements Definition & Management
Developing sound requirements that lead to desired results
Requirements definition is arguably the most important aspect of any acquisition or any program. After all, if you don’t identify and stabilize appropriate requirements or the results you are after, you surely lessen your chances of meeting them. It is interesting then that requirements definition and requirements management are cited so frequently in oversight reports as the root cause for programs that fail to achieve their stated objectives. As the adage goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
- How should you engage senior leadership across the organization as well as the marketplace during your requirements definition process?
- Are you involving end users and stakeholders in your requirements definition process?
- Are you dedicating the right resources—and sufficient time and energy—to this critical step?
- How do you manage your requirements to avoid “scope creep?”
ASI will work closely with you to ask the right questions of the right people to identify your agency’s requirements and constraints for a specific program, project, or acquisition. We’ll engage the marketplace—as appropriate—to explore the latest trends and potential solutions to help inform the requirements development process. We’ll translate the findings into cost, schedule, and performance requirements that align with business objectives and support mission outcomes, and we’ll ensure that, to the maximum extent possible, all requirements are identified at the appropriate point in the process to minimize “scope creep.”
The result: Well-planned requirements that results in requirements being met.
